Abstract

This study evaluates the relationships between PET bottle shapes and customers impression using Kansei engineering. The objective of the study is to understand the design parameter that can satisfy customers' impression. Robust design of Taguchi method was applied to obtain the optimum combination of design parameters that can match customers' impressions. The optimum combination of design parameters can generates a PET bottle design that stable to the inconsistency of customers' impressions. Factor analysis and neural network were used to map the relationship between shape impressions to design parameters. Kano model was integrated to the proposed method to enhance the PET bottle design so that the design can satisfy the customers' impressions. The proposed robust design method was implemented in Solidworks' API to create user interactive system. The system can helps designer to design a personal PET bottle shape based on the desired impressions.
