Schwannoma of the neck mimicking a thyroid tumor: A case report

Abstract

Schwannomas are rare in the region of the lower neck region, especially in the soft tissue surrounding the thyroid gland. To the authors' knowledge, only ten cases of perithyroidal schwannomas have been documented in the literature. This is a report of an extrathyroidal schwannoma of the lower neck which mimicked a thyroid tumor.
