Abstract

The hot water extracts of 160 Sri Lankan traditional medicines were tested for their nematocidal activity by using second-stage larva of Toxocara canis. Of them, twenty-nine crude drugs showed strong activity (particularly, ''pilamul,'' ''rathnitul'' and ''wishnukanthriya'' had extremely strong activity), and 34 crude drugs showed appreciable activity. The active principles in some of the above medicines were also discussed.
