Search for short-wavelength surface waves on a superfluid 3He film

Abstract

By employing an interdigitated capacitor (IC), we searched for ∼ 10 μm wavelength surface waves on superfluid 3He films. We have not observed such waves yet, possibly because the damping is still too large. Making use of the IC, the film flow was observed in normal and superfluid 3He.
