Segmentation of blue-white structures in pigmented skin lesion

Abstract

In case a doctor diagnoses malignant melanoma, he observes the structure of malignant melanoma. Although the area size of blue-white structures is reported to be associated with the degree of malignancy, the index showing blue-white structures is subjective and not quantitative. Therefore, this research aims at performing segmentation of blue-white structures domain, expressing the area size objective and quantitatively, and confirming that relation.
