Abstract

The X-ray crystallographic analysis of low spin bis(2-methylimidazole)(meso-tetraethylporphyrinato)iron(III) has revealed that the porphyrin ring is highly S4-ruffled and that the maximum deviation of the meso-carbon from the least-squares plane of the [Fe(C20N4)] core reaches as much as 0.73(1) Å.
