N2 - In this paper, we introduce Video on Demand (VoD) system which adopts Digital Video (DV) [1] as video data source on distributed network. DVoD (Digital Video on Demand) improves an availability of DV data by enabling the random-access to the data among multi-users via distributed network. Since DVoD system is designed for IP based network which has grown into a giant scale in these years, this system can deploy high quality video delivery service over the wide area network. While IP based network provides the Datagram oriented communication service with End-to-End model, transmitted datagrams does not guarantee its transmit bandwidth, propagation delay and arrival at the destination. We accomplished to implement DVoD system on such a unreliable network due to adopting a proprietary rate control mechanism, which establishes the isochronous data transmission possible at the sender. This system also supports multicast video channel to extend the scalability. We present an effective implementation of DV transmission module. Furthermore we show a result of evaluation about image degradation when DV data is transmitted via the distributed network by our system.
