Abstract

The crystal structure determination of the title compound, [Co(C5H7O2)2(NO2)(C 6H7N)], shows that the coordination geometry around the CoIII atom is slightly distorted octahedral, with a Co-NO2 bond distance of 1.905 (3) Å. The crystal is photostable, which may be due to the narrow cavity around the nitro group.
