Abstract
This paper deals with a virtual clay modeling system used for creating the basic idea of product shape. The system is composed of a sub-system for modeling the entire shape and sub-system for re-modeling minor details. The entire shape modeling sub-system constructs virtual objects and virtual tools by combining the meta-ball model and voxel model so that high-speed computing is realized for real time processing of the modeling and the basic model can be rapidly and easily created. The detail re-modeling sub-system makes objects using polygon models with springs and dampers between vertexes to develop fine modeling functions and more realistic force-sensing-feedback.
