A fluidic oscillator which comprised a jet and a bluff cylinder is described. The mechanism of oscillation is outlined and the oscillator is applied to a flowmeter. The relationships between the velocity at the inlet nozzle and the oscillation frequency for the various combinations of geometric parameters were measured with air as the operating fluid. The results are summarized and advantages of the oscillator discussed.
