A novel molecular architecture of a liquid-crystalline polymer showlng nanophase-separated surfaces

抄録

Novel azotolane derivatives containlng an oligooxyethylene moiety have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed cross coupling reactions as the key step. The thermotoropic liquid crystalline behavior of the compound was investigated by polarizlng optical microscopy and differential scaterlng calorimetry. Furthermore, we observed that the compound shows trans-cis photoisomerization behavior upon irradiation of ultraviolet light, as Well as a conventional azobenzene moiety.
