Purpose : To investigate the effect of binocular vision in various portions of the visual field using multifocal visual evoked potentials (mVEPs). Methods : Seven subjects with normal binocular vision were tested. The second-order kernel responses of the mVEPs elicited using a 60-segment dartboard array with a checkerboard pattern were extracted with VERIS Science Ver. 3.01. The ratio (R) of the amplitude of the response elicited during binocular stimulation to that during monocular stimulation was calculated in the following portions of visual field : full, upper, lower, central (central 10-degree circle), and paracentral (10- to 25-degree annular). Results : The R was 1.26,1.15,1.36,1.38, and 1.17 in the full, upper, lower, central, and paracentral visual fields, respectively. Conclusions : Binocular summation is also present in mVEPs.
