Biomimetic synthesis of one-dimensional wurtzite ZnO nanowires by thermal evaporation was analyzed. An aqueous solution containing 0.01M ZnSO ·7H2O was prepared using 50 cm3 of purified water in poly(propylene) and NH4l was added as complexing agent. The molar ratio of NH+ to Zn2+ was fixed in the range of 20-30 and the pH was adjusted to 9.5-11.0 with 5M NaOH, and pyranine was also added to solution. It was found that diameter of the nanorods changed with variation in pH value and pyranine concentration, growth pattern varied according to surface energy under different fabrication condition. The results show that wurtzite ZnO nanowires is consisted of nanograins along with organic molecules in a solution system.
