N2 - We propose a carbon dioxide (CO 2) gas sensor using an SPR (surface plasmon resonance) sensing scheme with an ionic liquid. In this study, we used [EMIM][BF 4] as an ionic liquid. The permittivity of the liquid increased when it absorbs CO 2 gas. This permittivity change was detected by the SPR sensing scheme. We confirmed that our proposed sensor was able to measure CO 2 gas with a concentration as low as 700 ppm.
