Citizens' initiatives regarding the construction, management and maintenance of "haus-hyazinth" - A city park pavilion: A process design to create a place for collective local activities starting from individual actions

The focus is on a bottom-up process to create publicness based on individual actions. We have conducted a case study of citizens' initiatives to privately build a pavilion in a city park. This paper describes the process in which citizens' initiatives that began with a small number of individuals have spread widely, with the public involvement of the local government, and has taken root for the local residents over time. The interaction of private-ness and publicness is suggested to create a place for collective local activities.
