Detection and evaluation of structure in pigmented skin lesion

Melanoma is a malignant pigmented skin lesion. Recently, doctors use dermoscopy to observe skin lesion clearly. Then subcutaneous structures will be observable, for example Dots, Globules and pigmented network. Dots are dark small circular areas and important for diagnosis of melanoma. We successfully detected dark small circular areas, however failed to distinguish between malignant and benign by dark small circular areas those we regarded as Dots. We predict that cause of failure is excessive Dots. There are not only Dots in dark small circular areas but also excessive Dots, Globules and intersection points in pigmented network. We tried to detect pigmented network in order to remove excessive Dots from dark small circular areas.
