Development of advanced evacuated solar still

抄録

A new evacuated solar still is proposed which is a desalination system producing desalinated water from the seawater with high efficiency. The low-pressure boiling enables to produce desalinated water from the seawater at lower temperature level, so the heat loss from the still can be minimized at the ambient temperature level. This solar still possibly ensure the long-life durability without any cumbersome maintenance. We have tested the performance by means of a simple experimental simulation using electric heaters instead of the solar-energy input and the results conclude the possibility in practical application with higher performance using multistage distillation. This paper also summarizes the simulated results by computer analysis in comparison with the experiments.
