Development of performance functions for communication/computer systems and its application to dynamic performance analysis

In the previous paper by the same authors, a theoretical framework and computational procedures are presented for dynamic performance analysis of communication/computer systems with highly reliable components. However the paper assumes without any specification that the level of the network performance can be found given a system state. The focus of this paper is to develop such system performance functions in a general application context, which is important for practical purposes. Several performance functions are obtained by solving certain linear programming problems. These performance functions then enable one to analyze dynamic system performance. As a concrete example, a general backbone network is explicitly evaluated.
