It has been observed that the indoor air quality of an office affects the productivity of its workers. Therefore, appropriate ventilation is essential to prevent the indoor air quality from deteriorating and to improve the productivity of the employees. It is also crucial to properly maintain the HVAC system in order to prevent it from an outbreak of microorganisms. In this paper, we conducted a field experiment in order to examine the effect of two different methods of maintaining the HVAC (cleaning the HVAC coil and increasing the outdoor-air supply rate) on the indoor air quality and on the workers' productivity. Our study confirmed that an adapted maintenance of the HVAC improved the indoor air quality, workers' satisfaction with the air environment, and their performance.
