Efficient shape-editing method for curves and surfaces based on the quantification of aesthetic properties

In this paper, we propose a method of shape editing based on the quantification of aesthetic properties for more efficient and effective industrial design. The aesthetic measure, proposed in this paper, consists of two different characteristics; namely, the Class A condition and the minimum energy approach. Based on this idea, we defined two aesthetic measures; the curve aesthetic value and the surface aesthetic value. The former is used to evaluate the aesthetic property of a given curve, and the latter is used for a given surface, respectively. These values were tested on some examples, and their usefulness was shown.
