S1-S0 electronic spectra of jet-cooled p-dicyanobenzene (p-DCNB), its H2O complex, and the dimer ((p-DCNB)2) were recorded using laser-induced fluorescence and two-color multiphoton ionization methods. Several vibrational bands in S1 of the monomer were assigned to the corresponding vibrational modes in the ground S0 state. Geometric structures of p-DCNB-H2O and (p-DCNB)2 were determined by the analyses of rotational envelopes of the vibronic bands of these complexes.
