Examination of the improved model for the unsteady combustion around hypersonic projectiles

Row features of the unsteady shock-induced combustion around projectiles are studied. The analysis is carried out with the numerical simulation using finite difference method. The large-disturbance regime unsteady combustion with the low frequency and high amplitude oscillation is investigated by a series of simulations considering the oxygen-hydrogen combustion mechanism under the same condition as the experiment. The time-evolving flow field is obtained in the simulation result, and the mechanism of the unsteady phenomenon is investigated. The mechanism on the stagnation streamline agrees with our previously proposed model using the simplified chemical reaction model. Factors for the large-disturbance regime unsteady combustion were detected in each computation. Some of new factors; self-enforced explotion and secondary explosion, arc detected and an improved model is proposed.
