Ferromagnetic FePt nanowires: Solvothermal reduction synthesis and characterization

The mechanism of preparation of FePt nanowires by a facile solvothermal reduction approach, was investigated. The morphology and chemical composition of the products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The magnetic properties of the sample were studied by field-dependent magnetization measurements which exhibited ferromagnetic behavior. The results show that the FePt nanowires prepared by the solvothermal reduction process have great potential for 1D nanomagnetism studies and may evolve as building blocks for the construction of electromagnetic devices.
