N2 - Section 1.1 of this chapter introduces the definition of spatial data as the realizations of spatial processes. Three types of spatial data-geostatistical data, lattice data, and spatial point patterns-are defined there. Section 1.2 explains the characteristics of spatial data-spatial autocorrelation (subsection 1.2.1) and spatial heterogeneity (subsection 1.2.2).
