Between 1995 and 1997, 11 patients with cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) were treated with linear accelerator stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). In 2 cases, multiple isocenters were used. The nidus volume ranged from 0.1ml to 15.8ml. Three patients underwent embolization before SRS. Five months after SRS, one patient died of intracranial hemorrhage. One year after SRS, of 10 angiograms performed, 5 patients (50%) were found to have angiographic cure. Two years after SRS, of 3 angiograms performed, 3 patients (100%) were found to have angiographic cure. Linear accelerator SRS is a valuable method to obliterate AVMs.
