We report photoluminescence (PL) and chemical properties of nanocrystal phosphors synthesized by low-temperature wet chemical processing. YAG:Ce 3+ nanociystals were synthesized from aluminium isopropoxide, yttrium(III) acetate tetrahydrate and cerium(III) acetate monohydrate in the mixed solvent of 1,4-butylene glycol and polyethylene glycol (PEG) in an autoclave at 300°C to discuss roles of PEG surface modification on PL enhancement. We also discuss roles of a lauryl phosphate surface modifier on PL enhancement in two systems of LaPO 4:Ce 3+,Tb 3+ nanocrystals synthesized at 140°C in the autoclave and ZnS:Mn 2+ nanocrystals synthesized by a reverse micelle method.
