抄録

Experimental data about drivers' behavior during automatic driving was studied. The driver's reaction time to failure of steering controller during automatic driving was measured. The results of this study contribute to determining the degree of the driver's responsibility for supervising automatic driving systems, and will assist in designing human-machine interfaces for switching between automatic and manual driving. If drives are required to supervise automatic driving or to switch from automatic driving to manual driving by themselves, the vehicle has to not only prevent the drivers from getting drowsy, but also keep attracting their attention.
