抄録

The transverse magnetization (Zeeman coherence) in ruby induced by a circularly polarized light pulse from a Q-switched ruby laser is magnetically detected by a pickup coil at room temperature. From the dependence of the observed signal amplitude on the applied transverse magnetic field (-100 to 100 Oe) the change of magnetization responsible for the Hanle effect near zero magnetic field has been observed and compared with theoretical calculations.
