The shape fluctuation and two-dimensional disordered flow of a lipid bilayer membrane in the fluid phase, due to ambient fluids were studied. The collective motion which was caused by thermal agitation of the membrane, could shift the lipid molecules and its Brownian motion. Results showed that the collective motion could not be neglected in explaining observed values of the self-diffusion constant of a lipid molecule.
