Path length correction for haemoglobin concentration measurement in exposed cortex by multi-spectral im aging

    The changes in the oxy-and deoxy-haemoglobins in the cortical tissue caused by brain functions have been measured by multi-spectral imaging of the exposed cortex. It is important for the accurate measurement of the concentration changes in the oxy-and deoxy-haemoglobins to consider the wavelength dependence of the mean optical path lengths of the detected light. In this study, the changes in the cerebral haemoglobin concentrations of guinea pigs are measured using a multi-spectral imaging system. The wavelength dependence of the optical path lengths is estimated from the multi-spectral im age of the exposed cortex in order to improve the haemoglobin concentration measurement.
