Interest in organic molecules for use in nonlinear optics(NL0) is still growing because of their potential use in optical communication, optical switching, and frequency conversion, etc. For this purpose incorporation of organic materials into thin films is necessary, since polymer systems are well suited for thin-film applications. Waveguide devices are attractive because of high conversion efficiency, compactness, and variety of phasematching techniques. Phase-matching between zeroth order modes using a diagonal tensor component of a nonlinear material is realized by Quasi-phase-matching(QPM). In practice some of the best waveguide phasematching results to date have been achieved with QPM in inorganic materials [l]. Although periodically poled smcture is obtainable in polymer films, preparation of periodically domain inverted films is far more difficult.
