RBC velocity distribution in the microcirculation estimated from the optical flow of blood image sequences

抄録

Erythrocyte velocity distributions in the venules and arterioles of rat mesentery were obtained by using the improved image gradient method. The optical flows showed characteristic velocity vector fields in response to the structure and hemodynamics of the microcirculation. This technique makes it possible to elucidate the interactions between erythrocyte flow dynamics and the inner surface wall of the microvessels as well as the behavior of granulocytes in the vessels. Hemodynamic changes with the disease conditions and pharmacological effects on the microcirculation can be precisely analyzed.
