N2 - Although postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) accounts for 18-47% of nosocomial onset AKI, its influence on postoperative prognosis has largely been neglected except in the field of cardiac surgery. Recently, however, interest in the onset of AKI and the types of chronic kidney disease (CKD) that follow has increased. Various risk factors have been identified, and preventative treatment strategies have been proposed. This chapter describes AKI onset and its effects after non-cardiac surgery.
