Schlieren-system-visualization of combustion phenomena in a two-parallel-plane rotating detonation combustor

To elucidate phenomena in rotating detonation combustors, 3 types of visualization experiments were performed using a two-parallel-plane combustor and optical systems. Comaring self-luminescence and shodowgraph experiments, it was proved that part of the burned gas flowed backward to the injector because of regional high combustion pressure. In addition, partial-area visualization experiment using schlieren-system was also performed. In the experiment, we obtaind higher spatial and time resolution than aforementioned two experiments. Making superposition of 80 photos, we simulated one cycle of contact surfaces in the entire combustion chamber. The velocity of moving contact surfaces along the outer edge of the combustion chamber were calculated. As the result, it reached 62 % of CJ detonation velocity.
