Single nanobeads detection by scanning laser spot for immunosensing

We devised a new measurement system for a small number of biomolecules by using nanobeads and optical disc technologies. The antibodies were specifically immobilized onto optical disc surface, then the biomolecules were captured with antibody-modified nanobeads by immunoreaction. Each nanobead was detected one by one with a small scanning laser spot generated by an optical pickup for Blu-ray Disc. The number of the nanobeads corresponds to the number of the biomolecules, therefore the biomolecules can be measured by counting the nanobeads. This paper demonstrates the quantitative detection of a biomolecule by our method.
