We are grateful to Emma Thomas, Boaz Gaventas, Alexa Baracaia and the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology patient panel for feedback on the prioritisation of outcomes and outcome measures for this systematic review. The draft search strategy for World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform has been developed with advice from Douglas Grindlay, Information Specialist at the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK. We gratefully acknowledge all members of the wider SCiPAD group and especially those who contributed to discussion and input at the annual meetings in Munich 2018, and Lisbon 2019, including: Sarah Brown, Elisabeth Harberl, Jonathan Hourihane, Michael Perkin, Jochen Schmidt, and Stefan Weidenger. This systematic review is supported by the award of an NIHR Transitional Research Fellowship to MK hosted by Imperial College London, and the award of an NIHR Research for Patient Benefit grant to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Cochrane Skin editorial base wishes to thank Sam Gibbs, Cochrane Dermatology Editor; Yanina Sguassero, from the Cochrane IPD meta-analysis methods group; Masaki Futamura, Clinical Referee for eczema, and a clinical referee on food allergy who wishes to remain anonymous; Samantha Cox, who commented on the search strategy; Amanda Roberts, Consumer Referee; and Denise Mitchell, who copy-edited the protocol.

N2 - This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows:. Primary objective. To assess the effects of skincare interventions, such as emollients, for prevention of eczema and food allergy in infants. Secondary objectives. To ascertain whether active skincare interventions, commenced in early infancy, influence risk of developing eczema or food allergy To identify features of the study populations such as age, hereditary risk and adherence to the interventions, which are associated with the greatest treatment benefit or harm for both eczema and food allergy.
