N2 - X-ray magnetic circular dichroism measurements Of Pd97.1Fe 2.9 fine particles were performed at the Pd L2,3 edges. The estimated magnetic moment of the Pd atom in the fine particles is smaller than that of the bulk. The ratio of the orbital and spin moments 〈L Z〉/〈SZ 〉 of the fine particles is 1.8 times larger than that of the bulk sample. This suggests the enhancement of orbital moment of Pd in the PdFe fine particles.
